Welcome, I am
TJANARA

I am Tjanara Goreng Gorenga a Wakka Wakka and Wulli Wulli Traditional Custodian, clans of the Djwan Djumbe Nation of Central Queensland, a grandmother, mother and Ngungkari.

I am focused on self transformation, community service and bringing peace and harmony to our world through sharing positive and higher level thinking and consciousness in our leaders, where our knowing being and doing allow us to be reconciled, healed and recovered from our past world traumas so that we change our actions, strategies and attitudes as we all move forward to a higher level of consciousness and thinking.  Whats the point of continuing to do what we know doesn't work for our wellbeing.

I was brought up in my First Nations knowledge and across the colonial culture. I work to break down and heal this past with us all . I share this through Ngungkari medicine practice, co-facilitating Women's Business workshops and Retreats through FIRDA www.firda.online and I  producing, educating & publishing art & poetry.

My memoir
A LONG WAY FROM NO GO

Written with journalist Julie Szego, this is my story of life growing up in western Queensland being sent to Catholic Boarding school where I was abused despite my parents paying for my education at that place.  In the book I shine a light on public policy and the political activism I was involved in during the 1970's to the 1990's and my eventual career in academia and the public sector fighting for our rights through education at tertiary institutions.  its a  reflection on the Royal Commission into Institutional Abuse, my own life and in particular how it is possible to recover from generational trauma, abuse and dependency. .
